Subject: Cisco Upgrades

We will be upgrading Cisco Equipment at 10:00 pm Pacific standard time. After the upgrade we will have to reboot the Cisco equipment that was upgraded. This will cause parts of the network have connectivity issues for the reboot periods (3-5 minutes). We are upgrading because of a recent security issue found to exist in most Cisco devices. If you have interest the problem can be found here http://w ww.cert.org/advisories/CA-2003-17.html

Subject: Short Network Hicuup

There were two short 30 seconds network hiccup happened at around 4pm today, the cause was deal to a mis-configured router on our vendor side. The problem happened when we are turned on BGP some of our routers, which are part of our plan to provide more redundancy, but the peered router was mis-configured and we lost connection through those links for a short period of time. We have corrected the problem and we have confirmed with our vendor that their router is configured to our specification. We have very high confidence that these changes will improve the overall reliability of our network to support our continue expansion.

Dear BJT Customer,
As you may have noticed, our network connection to the outside world was down for over one and a half hour yesterday, 01/24/02, beginning at around 3:10pm. The problem was traced back to a core router located inside our backbone provider network, we have not received any information from the vendor regarding the cause of the problem but we are actively pursuing to obtain more information from them. As soon as we learn more about it, well pass on the information to you.
